01How much bigger is the 20 than a 14?
On the Heavyweight versions, .700 inch against .670 inch — about three-quarters of a millimetre more diameter. That is a large jump in how much lip sits inside the cup.
02Is the 20 good for a beginner?
No. It's described for the robust embouchure. The 13 is the student and developing-player size — rounder number 3 rim, quicker response, easier flexibility.
03Why is there no letter after the 20?
Plain-numbered Schilke models use standard rim, cup and backbore. The letters mark variations, like the shallow A cup and tight a-backbore on the 14A4a.
04Will a bigger mouthpiece give me a better tone?
Only if you can support it. A larger cup offers more volume of sound, but if endurance drops your tone gets worse, not better.
