01What is the difference between this and the gold 15C4?
The plating and the price. Cup diameter, cup shape, rim contour and throat are the same. Gold feels slicker on the lip; silver has slightly more grip.
02Does silver plating affect the sound?
No. The sound comes from cup diameter, cup depth, throat and backbore. Plating changes how the rim feels against your lip, not the shape of the air column.
03Is this a good step up from a stock mouthpiece?
It is a small rim with a flat, endurance-oriented contour. That suits players already comfortable on a smaller diameter. If your stock piece feels cramped, look at larger numbers.
04Can I use it on a C trumpet?
Yes. It is a standard trumpet shank and fits Bb and C trumpets. Many players carry the same rim across both horns to avoid readjusting.
