01What does Group II mean on a Schilke mouthpiece?
It's the size band. Group I covers the smaller Standard Series cup diameters, roughly .630 to .665 inch. Group II covers the larger diameters above that.
02Is the 18 good for high notes?
Not its purpose. It's a large-diameter standard cup built for full tone. Schilke's shallow A-cup models like the 13A4a are the lead-playing designs.
03Should I move up to an 18 from a 13?
Only if you feel restricted on the 13 and have the embouchure strength for a wider rim. Larger isn't automatically better and endurance usually suffers first.
04Does it fit a standard trumpet?
Yes. It's a standard trumpet shank and drops straight into a normal trumpet receiver.
