What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Felt strips

Felt damps by touching the head surface, which shortens sustain while leaving the initial attack intact.

Detail 02

2-pack

Enough for one drum with two strips, or two drums with one strip each depending how dry you want it.

Detail 03

Bass drum specific

Sized for a kick. Not intended as snare or tom muffling.

Detail 04

Under six dollars

Consumable hardware. Cheap enough to keep spares and experiment with placement.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Installing means loosening and removing a head, so keep a drum key handy
  2. 02Strip placement changes the result; nearer the edge damps less
  3. 03Nothing else is included, no pillow, tape or head

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01How do I install felt muffling strips?

Loosen the tension rods, lift the head off, lay the strip across the shell so it presses against the inside of the head, then reseat and retune the drum.

02One strip or two?

One strip gives light damping and keeps some resonance. Two strips, or one under each head, gives a shorter, drier note. Start with one and add if it still rings.

03Will this work on my snare or toms?

These are cut for a bass drum. On smaller drums they are oversized and awkward, so use a muffling ring or gel made for those sizes.

04Do they go under the batter or the front head?

Either works. Under the batter head it shortens the attack side; under the front head it controls the resonant ring. Many drummers run one under each.
