What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Pinstripe construction

Two plies with a damping agent between them near the edge. It kills high overtones without adding external muffling.

Detail 02

Clear film

More attack and brightness than a coated head, and it shows the shell interior rather than a matte surface.

Detail 03

Crimplock hoop

The head is molded into its own hoop for marching tenor hardware. It will not fit a standard tensioned drum.

Detail 04

6 inch

The small drum in a tenor set. Sizes are exact, so measure before ordering a replacement.

Detail 05

Two plies

Lower pitch, shorter decay and stronger resistance to denting than a single-ply head under heavy sticking.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01One head only — a full tenor set needs several sizes
  2. 02Pinstripe rings less than an Emperor; expect a drier note
  3. 03Verify your drums are Crimplock-mount, not standard hoop and rod

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01How does Pinstripe compare to Emperor?

Both are two-ply. Pinstripe adds damping between the plies near the edge, so it rings noticeably less and gives a shorter, fatter note than a plain two-ply head.

02Will this fit a 6-inch tom?

No. The molded Crimplock hoop requires marching tenor hardware. A conventional drum tensioned with rods and a counterhoop will not accept it.

03Is it too muffled for a tenor?

It is the drier option. If you want more sustain and ring off the drum, a non-damped two-ply head suits better.

04Does it come with mounting hardware?

No. The Crimplock hoop is part of the head, but you reuse the drum's existing mounting hardware to install it.
