Usually not. The damping between the plies handles most of the ring on its own.
02Clear or coated Pinstripe — what's the difference?
Clear is brighter with more attack. Coated is warmer and takes brushes. Both share the same two-ply damped build.
03Will this fit a 10-inch drum with an odd depth?
Yes. Head size is set by shell diameter alone, so any 10-inch tom takes it regardless of depth.
04Is this too thick for quiet playing?
It is less responsive to soft strokes than a single-ply head. At low volumes you lose some detail.
