Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
Built around the early ES-335 format, the 50s pairs a semi-hollow maple/poplar/maple body with a solid maple center block, balancing open body resonance with sustained notes and greater feedback control at volume. Alnico 3 Custombuckers provide warm, harmonically detailed humbucker output, while the handwired controls give you responsive adjustment of volume and tone. Its Rounded C mahogany neck has a deliberately substantial feel, joined by a bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and 22 frets. A hardshell case is included.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Stage sets using clean and driven sounds where semi-hollow openness needs controlled response at higher volume.
- Rhythm and lead parts for players who prefer a fuller, more substantial neck profile.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Players seeking a slimmer neck profile; the 50s uses a fuller Rounded C mahogany neck.
