Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
The ES-335 60s brings the early-1960s version of the design into a semi-hollow guitar with an airy body response, sustained notes and added feedback control from its solid maple center block. T-Type humbuckers keep the output clear and balanced across clean and driven settings, with handwired controls for detailed shaping. The SlimTaper mahogany neck is the key fit distinction: it offers a sleeker, more fluid feel than the 50s profile. Small block inlays, nickel hardware and gloss nitrocellulose lacquer complete its period-based presentation.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Extended playing sessions that benefit from a slimmer, faster-moving mahogany neck feel.
- Clean and driven guitar parts needing balanced humbucker output with retained note definition.
- Stage or rehearsal use at higher volume where the center block helps manage feedback.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Players who specifically want the fuller Rounded C neck used on the ES-335 50s.
