Strong match

Who this is for

  • Low-to-medium wattage amps where the speaker is meant to compress
  • Combo rebuilds with 6.5 inches of clearance behind the baffle
  • Cabs where high output per watt matters

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • High-wattage heads pushing well past 50W into one speaker
  • Bass, keyboard or full-range PA duty
  • Shallow cabs with under 6.5 inches of internal depth

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

50W power rating

Handles 50W continuous. Pair with amps at or below that, or run it in a multi-speaker cab that splits the load.

Detail 02

Alnico magnet

Alnico magnets react differently under load than ceramic, and they cost more. That is most of the price gap here.

Detail 03

100dB sensitivity

Loud per watt. Swapping in a lower-sensitivity speaker later will drop your volume at the same amp setting.

Detail 04

6.5 inch overall depth

Deeper than most 12s. Measure baffle-to-back-panel clearance before ordering, especially in thin combo cabs.

Detail 05

9.3 lb weight

Light for a 12. Noticeable if you are loading two or four into a cab you carry.

Detail 06

75Hz low-end limit

Rolls off below 75Hz. Guitar range is covered; it is not intended to reproduce bass guitar or program material.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01This is the 8 ohm version. Check your cab wiring and amp output tap first.
  2. 02Speaker only. No mounting hardware, wire, gasket or connectors included.
  3. 03Cutout needs 11.1 inches; mounting slots sit on an 11.7 inch circle, four slots.

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Will this fit my 12-inch cab?

It needs an 11.1 inch cutout, four mounting slots on an 11.7 inch pattern, and 6.5 inches of depth behind the baffle. That depth is the usual problem, not the diameter.

02Can I run it with a 100W head?

Not on its own. It is rated 50W. In a 2x12 or 4x12 the load splits across drivers, which is the normal way to use it with a bigger amp.

03Why does it cost more than the Vintage 30?

The alnico magnet structure. Alnico is a more expensive magnet material than the ceramic used in most guitar speakers.

04Is it 8 ohm or 16 ohm?

This listing is the 8 ohm version, with 6.4 ohms DC resistance. Celestion also makes a 15 ohm variant, sold separately.
