No. This is a large shank, sized for large-bore tenor and bass receivers. A small-bore horn needs the small-shank version.
02Is the 53 bigger than a 51 or 52?
Yes. The 53 is 1.033 inches across, against 1.010 for the 51 and 1.015 for the 52. The step up is real but small.
03Is this a bass trombone mouthpiece?
No, it is a large tenor size. Schilke's bass-side models start at the 57 and run through the 58, 59 and 60.
04Does gold plating change how it plays?
The playing dimensions are identical to the silver 53. The difference is surface feel and how your skin reacts to the plating.
