Strong match

Who this is for

  • Jumping between patchbay points and rack outboard
  • Interface line outs into a monitor controller or compressor
  • Dense racks where a longer cable becomes bundle to manage

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Anything more than a few feet apart
  • Guitars and pedals — a balanced line cable, not instrument
  • Bantam or TT patchbays, which need a smaller plug

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

TRS on both ends

Carries a balanced mono line, or a stereo pair, depending on how the gear at each end is wired.

Detail 02

3 ft length

Sized for patchbay-to-rack hops. Too short to leave the rack, which is the point of a patch cable.

Detail 03

1/4-inch plugs

Fits line jacks on patchbays, compressors, interfaces and monitor controllers. Not for XLR or D-sub I/O.

Detail 04

Balanced cable into a TS jack

It still passes signal, but the ring ties to sleeve and the noise rejection goes away.

Detail 05

Black jacket, no color coding

Every cable looks identical from behind a loaded bay, so plan on labeling your own runs.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Measure patchbay-to-gear distance before buying a handful at three feet
  2. 02Confirm the jacks are TRS; TS inputs run it unbalanced
  3. 03Cable only — labels, ties and adapters are on you

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Can I use this as a stereo cable?

Yes. Tip and ring carry left and right where the gear is wired for stereo; on balanced gear the same conductors carry one channel.

02Is this an instrument cable?

No. It is a balanced line cable. A guitar or bass wants a TS instrument cable instead.

03Will it work in my patchbay?

Yes, if the bay uses 1/4-inch jacks. Bantam and TT bays take a smaller plug and will not accept these.

04Why does a three-foot cable cost this much?

You are paying for the Mogami cable and the TRS terminations rather than length. Patch cables are priced per connector far more than per foot.
