What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

17mm cup diameter

Large. More lip vibrates, so the sound gets broader and darker, but stamina costs more.

Detail 02

5mm rim width

Slightly wider than a standard C rim. Spreads pressure across the lip and steadies the center of pitch.

Detail 03

3.80mm throat

Moderately open. Air moves freely for volume, at the price of a bit more resistance feedback.

Detail 04

Barrel backbore

Straight-walled bore that keeps the tone even across registers rather than favoring the top end.

Detail 05

Silver plating

Slightly grippier and firmer feeling than gold. Tarnishes over time; some players react to silver on the skin.

Detail 06

1.5C designation

Sits between a 1C and a 3C. Bigger than the student-standard 7C or 5C most trumpets ship with.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Fits standard small-shank Bb and C trumpets, not cornet or flugelhorn
  2. 02Switching to a larger cup takes weeks of adjustment before range returns
  3. 03Wipe and dry after playing; silver tarnishes where it sits wet

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Is 1.5C too big for high school?

It's a step up from the 7C most students start on. Workable for a strong player in concert band, but the larger cup will cost endurance until the embouchure adapts.

02How is this different from a 1C?

The 1.5C has a slightly smaller cup and a wider rim, so it's more stable and comfortable and a bit more flexible, with a more brilliant edge than the 1C.

03Will it fit my cornet?

No. This is a trumpet mouthpiece with a trumpet shank. Cornets use a different, shorter shank taper.

04Silver or gold plating?

This one is silver. Silver feels firmer and slightly grippier on the lip. Choose gold only if silver irritates your skin.
