Strong match

Who this is for

  • Short fixture-to-fixture hops in a truss or bar
  • Mobile DJs replacing failing mic cables in a light chain
  • Cold outdoor gigs and hot fixture bodies

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Fixtures with 5-pin DMX input, without an adapter
  • Long booth-to-stage runs — 10 ft only
  • Carrying power to a fixture; this is data only

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

110-ohm impedance

Matches what DMX controllers expect, so data stays clean across a daisy chain instead of glitching at the end.

Detail 02

Foil tape plus 85% tinned copper braid shield

Two shield layers instead of one, which matters when the cable runs alongside dimmer and power lines.

Detail 03

22 AWG, two conductors

Thin and flexible enough to dress around truss clamps; it moves data, never fixture power.

Detail 04

3.2 inch minimum bend radius

Don't wrap it tight around your hand or zip-tie it into a hard corner. Kinks degrade the signal.

Detail 05

-30 C to +75 C range

Survives freezing outdoor nights and sitting against a hot fixture housing between sets.

Detail 06

0.229 inch outer diameter

Chunky for its gauge because of the double shield. Coils take up more case space than mic cable.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Ships as cable only — no adapters, no DMX terminator plug
  2. 02Check whether your fixtures use 3-pin or 5-pin XLR
  3. 0310 ft covers fixture spacing, not controller-to-first-fixture distance

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Can I just use a microphone cable instead?

It often works over short distances, but mic cable isn't built to the 110-ohm data spec. On longer chains you get flicker and stuck fixtures. This avoids that.

02Will this work with 5-pin DMX fixtures?

Not directly. The connectors are 3-pin XLR. You'd need a 3-to-5-pin adapter at the fixture end.

03Can I use this as a speaker or audio cable?

No. It's 22 AWG data cable with a 2.1 amp per conductor limit — nowhere near enough for speaker power.

04Do I need a terminator with this?

The cable doesn't include one. Terminators go on the last fixture in the chain and are sold separately.
