01Will a small shank 51 fit my large bore trombone?
Not if the slide takes a large shank. The tapers differ and the piece won't seat correctly. Check the receiver, not the bore size alone.
02What's the difference between the 51 and the 51D?
The 51D is 25.55mm with a much deeper D cup. It's aimed at strong players and euphonium, producing a fuller, darker tone.
03How does the 52 compare to the 51?
The 52 is slightly wider at 1.015 in. and gives a somewhat broader sound. The 51 is a touch more focused.
04Is the 51 too big for a high school player?
Often, yes. It's a large cup that rewards developed air. The 45 or 46 is the easier starting point, and the 47 bridges the gap.
