01Will this fit my trumpet?
No. This is a cornet mouthpiece with a cornet shank. Trumpet receivers take a different taper.
02What is the difference between the 12A4a and the 12A4?
Same cup and rim. The 12A4 uses the standard c-backbore, which blows more openly. The 12A4a uses the tight a-backbore for more resistance and range.
03Is this right for traditional brass band sound?
Not really. A shallow A cup is bright and quick. For the round, dark cornet tone, the deep funnel cups like the 11E or 8E2 fit better.
04Does gold plating play differently from silver?
The rim, cup and backbore are identical. What changes is surface feel under the lip and how your skin reacts to the plating.
