01How long do Plasticover reeds last compared to regular cane?
Generally longer. The coating limits how much moisture the cane takes on, which is what breaks reeds down. Expect fewer reeds warping or going soft on you mid-session.
02Is 3.5 too hard for me?
If you currently play 2.5 or below, yes. 3.5 needs steady air support and a settled embouchure. Step up through 3 first.
03Do these fit an alto or tenor mouthpiece?
No. These are cut for soprano saxophone. Alto and tenor need their own sizes — a soprano reed will not cover the tip properly.
04Do I still need to soak them?
Only briefly. The plastic coating blocks most water absorption, so a quick wet is enough. Long soaking does nothing useful here.
