01What is the difference between Plasticover and regular Rico reeds?
Plasticover reeds have a coating over the cane that blocks moisture. They stay consistent longer and resist warping. Uncoated cane responds more but changes faster.
02Is 2.5 a good strength for soprano sax?
It is a common working strength. Soft enough to control across the range, firm enough to hold pitch. Move to 3 if the sound feels thin or unstable.
03Can I use these on my alto?
No. Soprano reeds are smaller in every dimension. They will not seal against an alto mouthpiece.
04How many reeds will actually play well?
Cane varies. From a box of five, expect two or three to be strong performers, one or two average, and sometimes one that never settles.
