Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
Built around one Music Man neodymium humbucker, the StingRay Special H gives a four-string player volume control plus an 18V active preamp with bass, mid, and treble EQ. Those controls put tonal adjustment on the instrument for studio parts and stage sets. The solid select-tonewood body is contoured, paired with a roasted maple bolt-on neck and lightweight hardware. A hardened steel bridge with stainless steel saddles completes the hardware package, and a Music Man hardshell case is listed with the bass.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Adjusting bass, mid, and treble from the instrument during studio bass parts and stage sets.
- Right-handed four-string bass work at a 34-inch scale length.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Left-handed players, as this is specified as a right-handed bass.
- Players needing more than four strings.
- Buyers who require a fixed fingerboard wood, because maple or rosewood varies by finish.
