Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
Two neodymium humbuckers, a five-way pickup selector, and an 18-volt active preamp form the control layout of the right-handed StingRay Special 5 HH. With volume, bass, mid, and treble controls, it lets you work through its pickup combinations and EQ settings from the bass itself. The five-string instrument uses a lightweight contoured body and roasted maple Modern C neck. It has 22 frets, an 11-inch fingerboard radius, and a high-gloss polyester finish.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Stage or studio work that benefits from dual-humbucker pickup combinations and onboard three-band EQ.
- Long playing sessions where the lightweight contoured body is a stated comfort feature.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Players who want a single-pickup layout; this model has neck and bridge humbuckers.
- Left-handed players; this bass is listed in a right-handed orientation.
