Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
Designed as a right-handed five-string electric bass, the StingRay Special 5 H centers on one bridge neodymium humbucker and an 18-volt active three-band EQ. Volume, bass, mid, and treble controls put adjustments directly on the instrument. Its lightweight contoured body is paired with a roasted maple Modern C neck, 22 frets, and an 11-inch fingerboard radius. The extra string supports its extended-range design, finished here in high-gloss polyester.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Stage sets or studio sessions needing an extended-range five-string bass with onboard three-band EQ.
- Longer performances where a lightweight, contoured body is part of the requirement.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Left-handed players; this bass is listed in a right-handed orientation.
- Players seeking two humbuckers; this version uses one bridge humbucker in H configuration.
