Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
Epiphone’s 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue uses a solid mahogany slab body with a double cutaway and a one-piece mahogany neck. The 60s SlimTaper profile joins a bound rosewood board with 22 medium-jumbo frets and a 12-inch radius. Two Gibson Custom USA P-90 Soapbar pickups connect to hand-wired CTS pots and Bumblebee paper-in-oil capacitors. Its historic aluminum wraparound bridge has intonation adjustment screws, and a hardshell case is included.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Parts that move into higher registers, using the access provided by the double-cutaway body.
- Using pick attack and guitar-volume changes to move from clean sounds toward gritty overdrive.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Players who specifically need humbucker pickups; this model is fitted with two P-90 Soapbar pickups.
