Strong match

Who this is for

  • Replacing a worn or generic stock bridge humbucker
  • Black-hardware guitars where the pickup should disappear visually
  • Second guitar or project build on a tight budget

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Neck slots — this is a bridge-wound pickup
  • Guitars with only single-coil routes
  • Players who want a covered, vintage-looking pickup out of the box

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Bridge position

Bridge pickups are wound hotter to compensate for smaller string movement there. Swapping it into the neck throws off the balance between positions.

Detail 02

Black bobbins

Reads as a plain black humbucker under black or chrome hardware. No two-tone look to match or clash with a pickguard.

Detail 03

Full-size humbucker

Requires an existing humbucker cavity plus a ring or pickguard opening sized for it. Single-coil slots need routing.

Detail 04

Screw and slug pole rows

The screw side usually faces the bridge. Flipping the pickup changes which row sits under the strings and shifts the response.

Detail 05

$99

Entry price for a branded replacement. The install labor can cost as much as the pickup if you don't solder.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Pickup and mounting screws only — no cover, pots, or harness included
  2. 02Confirm your bridge string spacing before ordering; wide bridges may need trem spacing
  3. 03Old pickup has to be desoldered; plan on a tech if that's unfamiliar

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Is this a drop-in replacement?

Mechanically yes for a standard humbucker route. Electrically it still needs soldering to your existing volume pot and switch — nothing plugs in.

02What's the difference from the cream-bobbin version?

Bobbin color. Black disappears under black hardware; the black-and-cream option is a visual choice for uncovered pickups.

03Can I add a cover later?

Covers are sold separately and must be soldered to the baseplate. It's a common shop job but not something to attempt with a light-duty iron.

04Will it fit under my pickguard?

Only if the pickguard already has a full-size humbucker cutout. Single-coil or mini-humbucker openings will not clear the bobbins.
