Strong match

Who this is for

  • Rock and metal drummers hitting hard
  • Toms that ring too long and need less sustain
  • 14-inch rack or floor tom batter replacement

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Jazz players wanting thin, sensitive response
  • Drummers who want maximum sustain and open ring
  • Brush players — a clear head has no coating texture

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Emperor two-ply

Two plies of film. Lower pitch, shorter sustain, and noticeably more durable than single-ply.

Detail 02

Clear film

Brighter, more attack than coated. Cuts through a loud band better.

Detail 03

Batter head

Goes on the side you strike. The resonant head underneath is a separate, thinner head.

Detail 04

14 in.

Fits 14-inch drums. Measure the shell diameter across the bearing edge, not the old head.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 0114-inch only — confirm your shell size before ordering
  2. 02Head only. No hoop, hardware, or tuning key
  3. 03No coating, so brushes will not sound on this head

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Emperor vs Ambassador — which do I want?

Emperor is two-ply: lower, shorter sustain, more durable. Ambassador is single-ply: more open and resonant. Pick Emperor if you hit hard or want less ring.

02Can I use this as a snare head?

It will physically fit a 14-inch snare, but two-ply clear is thick for snare batter duty and loses sensitivity to light strokes and brushes.

03Does it need muffling?

Usually less than a single-ply head. The second ply already shortens sustain. Add a ring only if the drum still rings too long.

04What does Weather King mean?

It is Remo's long-running drumhead line name. It covers the film construction used across Ambassador, Emperor, and other models.
