01Will this fit a 13-inch snare?
It fits any 13 in. drum, tom or snare. On a snare it gives a thicker, less sensitive response than a typical single-ply snare batter, so ghost notes come through less.
02Clear or coated Emperor — what's the difference?
Clear is brighter with more attack and no brush response. Coated is warmer and slightly drier, and lets you play with brushes. Same two-ply construction underneath.
03How is this different from an Ambassador?
Ambassador is one ply — more open, more sustain, dents sooner. Emperor is two plies — shorter note, fewer overtones, holds up longer to hard hitting.
04Do I need a new bottom head too?
No. This is a batter head for the top only. Resonant heads last far longer since nothing strikes them, so replace them on their own schedule.
