Often not much. The edge ring already shortens the note. Start with the drum empty and add a small towel only if you want it drier.
02Coated or clear Powerstroke 3?
Coated gives a slightly warmer, less clicky attack. Clear leans brighter with a bit more beater definition. Both use the same edge dampening ring.
03Will it fit a 22-inch kick?
No. Bass drum heads match the shell diameter. A 20-inch head only fits a 20-inch bass drum.
04Can I use this as a front head?
It is made as a batter head. Front heads are usually thinner and often ported, so pick a resonant head for that side.
