01What reed strength works with a 5*?
Most tenor players drop about half a strength versus a closer tip. If you play 3 on a stock mouthpiece, start around 2.5 and adjust.
02Will my current ligature fit?
Only if it is made for metal tenor mouthpieces. Metal shanks are narrower than hard rubber, so rubber-piece ligatures usually sit loose.
03Is metal automatically louder than rubber?
It projects more and has more edge, largely from the smaller outer profile and chamber shape. You still control volume with air and embouchure.
04Does this fit alto saxophone?
No. It is cut for a tenor neck cork. Use an alto mouthpiece on an alto.
