01Is an 8 tip opening too much for me?
If you play under two hours a week or still tire quickly, yes. The 6 or 7 gives control while you build embouchure strength.
02What reed strength works on an 8M?
Usually around 2 to 2.5. Harder reeds on a wide tip make the mouthpiece feel stiff and kill the low register response.
03Does a wider tip make it louder?
It raises the ceiling. More air passes through, so you can push harder, but only with the reed and embouchure to support it.
04Can I use this on tenor sax?
No. This is an alto-shank mouthpiece and won't seal on a tenor neck. You'd need the tenor version.
