  • Players who want less internal pillow stuffing inside the drum
  • Miked stage and studio use needing a short decay

Consider the trade-offs

  • Anyone with a 20, 22, or 24-inch bass drum
  • Front-head replacement — this is a batter head only

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Batter head

This is the head you strike with the pedal beater. It does not replace the front resonant head.

Detail 02

Clear film

Clear film is brighter and more open than coated, with a sharper attack on the beater strike.

Detail 03

18 in.

Head size must match your drum's shell diameter exactly. Measure the shell, not the hoop.

Detail 04

EQ4 series

EQ4 heads use a damping ring to cut overtones, so the note is short and punchy out of the box.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Measure your bass drum shell diameter before ordering — 18 inch only
  2. 02One head only. No resonant head, no tuning key, no muffling pillow
  3. 03Budget an hour for tuning; new heads stretch and need a re-tension

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Do I still need a pillow inside the drum?

Usually not much. The built-in damping ring already shortens the sustain, so start with the drum empty and add muffling only if the note still rings too long.

02Is this the front head or the beater head?

Beater head. It goes on the side your pedal strikes. If you need the front head with the port hole, that is a resonant head and is sold separately.

03Will this fit a 20-inch bass drum?

No. Drum heads are sized to the shell diameter, and an 18-inch head will not seat on a 20-inch drum.

04Clear or coated for bass drum?

Clear gives more attack and a brighter, more defined beater click. Coated is warmer and softer. Most rock and pop players run clear on the batter side.
