Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
Built for a brighter, more forceful DANO voice, the black Dan O. Cool combines two higher-output 1950s-spec Lipstick pickups with the brand’s hardboard-and-spruce-frame construction. The neck pickup is 20% hotter and the bridge pickup 30% hotter than traditional Danelectro designs, adding drive for fuzz, overdrive, compression and modulation while retaining bright highs and quick attack. A bolt-on hard maple neck, C profile, rosewood fingerboard, 14-inch radius, 21 medium-jumbo frets and 25-inch scale support rhythm parts, leads and layered effects work.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Garage and indie rhythm parts that need bright attack and increased pickup output.
- Alternative pedalboards built around fuzz, overdrive, compression and modulation.
- Jangly lead textures with the quick response described for Lipstick pickups.
