01Will this fit an 18 inch bass drum?
It fits an 18" shell physically, but it is built as a tom batter head. A bass drum head of the same size is a different design.
02Do I need to add moongel or tape with this?
Usually not. The control ring already cuts the edge overtones, which is what most tape and gel are for. Add damping only if you still hear ring.
03Is it too dead for open rock tones?
No. It shortens the ringy overtones but keeps the fundamental note, so the drum still speaks — it just does not wash.
04Can I use brushes on it?
Not effectively. Brushes need a coated, textured surface to make sound. On clear film they slide silently.
