Handcrafted in Japan, the Yamaha GC42 classic guitar pairs traditional nylon-string design with select solid tonewoods and refined appointments. A choice of solid spruce or American cedar for the top complements solid Madagascar rosewood back and sides, giving players two distinct top-wood options built around the same premium rosewood body construction. An African mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and rosewood bridge complete the all-solid-wood design, while a bone nut and saddle provide traditional contact points for the strings. Made at Yamaha Music Craft in Japan, the GC42 carries the construction and materials of Yamaha's handcrafted classical guitar line into an instrument designed for serious nylon-string players. Solid Madagascar Rosewood Back and Sides Solid Madagascar rosewood forms the back and sides of the GC42, paired with a solid top available in either spruce or American cedar. The guitar uses an African mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard and a rosewood bridge fitted with a bone saddle. A gloss polyester finish completes the instrument while highlighting the natural appearance of its solid-wood construction. Traditional Classical Dimensions and Appointments A 650 mm string length and 52 mm bone nut give the GC42 traditional full-size classical proportions, while the body measures 94–100 mm deep. Yamaha YTM-81 tuning machines complete the hardware package, complementing the guitar's nylon-string design and traditional classical configuration.
