If you're not already playing 3.5 comfortably for a full rehearsal, yes. Reed strength should follow embouchure development, not the other way around.
02Will these fit a clarinet or alto sax?
No. These are cut for soprano saxophone mouthpieces. Clarinet and alto reeds have different shapes and won't seal correctly.
03How long does one reed last?
It depends on playing time and rotation. Rotating three or four reeds instead of playing one to death gets far more life out of a box.
04Why do reeds in the same box play differently?
They're cut from natural cane, so density varies piece to piece. Sorting through a box and keeping the best few is normal practice.
