Most players drop half a strength or a full strength from what they use on a stock mouthpiece. If you play 3.5 now, try 3 or 2.5 first.
02Is this good for concert band?
It's built for jazz playing — open, projecting and flexible. For concert band and classical repertoire, a closer classical mouthpiece will blend better.
03Will my current ligature fit?
Not reliably. The Jumbo JAVA body is larger than many alto pieces, so check the ligature's stated range or bring the mouthpiece when buying one.
