What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Hard rubber body

Warmer, less brittle response than plastic. Darkens over time and with sunlight, but plays consistently.

Detail 02

Eb-specific

The bore and shank are sized for Eb clarinet. It will not seat on a Bb or A instrument.

Detail 03

B44 designation

Vandoren's model code for a specific tip opening and facing length. Reed strength should be matched to it.

Detail 04

Mouthpiece only

Ligature, cap, and reeds are separate purchases. Your existing Eb ligature may or may not fit.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01No reeds, ligature, or cap included — budget for those separately
  2. 02Check that your current ligature clamps this body without slipping
  3. 03Expect a few days of adjustment before your reed strength feels settled

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Will this fit my Bb clarinet?

No. This is an Eb clarinet mouthpiece. The Eb is a smaller horn with a smaller shank, so the mouthpiece will not seat correctly on a Bb.

02Does it come with a ligature and cap?

No. It is the mouthpiece alone. Plan on using your existing Eb ligature and cap, or buying them separately.

03What reed strength should I use with it?

Start near the strength you already play on Eb and adjust from there. A new mouthpiece often shifts your comfortable strength by half a step either direction.

04How do I care for hard rubber?

Swab it after playing, wash occasionally in lukewarm water, and keep it out of direct sunlight. Heat and UV discolor and dull hard rubber over time.
