Strong match

Who this is for

  • Replacing a broken or dull E without buying a full set
  • Students already running a Dominant set
  • Players who find medium-gauge E strings too tight

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Anyone needing a complete set of four strings
  • Fractional-size violins — this is 4/4 only
  • Tailpieces that require a loop end

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Ball end

Seats in a standard tailpiece or fine tuner slot. A loop-end tailpiece will not hold it without an adapter.

Detail 02

Weich (light) gauge

Lower tension than medium. Easier under the finger and quicker to speak, with a bit less volume and push.

Detail 03

Steel E

Bright and focused with strong projection on top. Steel holds pitch well and settles in fast after installation.

Detail 04

4/4 size only

Cut for a full-size violin. On a 3/4 or 1/2 instrument the winding will land in the wrong place.

Detail 05

Single string, not a set

You are buying only the E. The other three strings are not part of this.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Only the E string is included — no A, D or G
  2. 02Check whether your fine tuner takes a ball end or a loop end
  3. 03Mixing a light E with medium other strings shifts the balance across the top

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Is this the whole set?

No. This is the E string on its own. Buy it to replace a broken E or to try a lighter top string against your existing set.

02What is the difference between weich and medium?

Weich is the light gauge — lower tension, softer under the fingers, faster response. Medium pushes more air but takes more bow arm and left-hand pressure.

03Will this fit my 3/4 violin?

No. It is cut for 4/4. On a smaller instrument the string length is wrong and the winding will not sit correctly at the nut and tailpiece.

04Do I need a loop end or ball end?

This one is ball end. Look at your fine tuner — most student setups take a ball, but some tailpieces and tuners are loop only.
