01Is strength 3 right for a school band student?
It is a common step up after 2 and 2.5, usually in the second year or once tone stays steady through a full rehearsal. Younger beginners should start softer.
02Will these work on a bass clarinet?
No. These are cut for Bb soprano clarinet. Bass clarinet uses a larger reed and this one will not seal on the mouthpiece.
03How many reeds should I keep in rotation?
Three or four at a time. Rotating lets each dry evenly between sessions and keeps a playable backup ready when one chips.
04How do I know when a reed is done?
Response goes dull, tone thins out, or the tip chips or turns wavy. If it takes more air than usual for the same sound, replace it.
