Royal is the filed version, with bark removed at the base. It responds a little more easily and sounds brighter than standard Rico at the same strength.
02Is 2.5 the right strength for a student?
It's a common step up from 2. If a beginner is still building embouchure, 2 may be easier; players with a settled setup often move to 3.
03How should I store these?
Dry the reed after playing and keep it flat in a reed holder. Left in the case on the mouthpiece, it warps and grows mold.
04Will these fit my Bb clarinet?
No. Bass clarinet reeds are noticeably larger. Buy Bb clarinet reeds for a soprano clarinet.
