02Do I play it with a mallet or my hand?

03Is this the same as a bodhran?
No. A bodhran is deeper-framed, played with a tipper, and usually has a tunable natural head. This is a shallow synthetic frame drum played by hand or mallet.
04Is it loud enough for a drum circle?
For an acoustic circle, yes. It projects a clear open tone. Against amplified instruments or a full drum kit it will get buried.
