Yes, as the top batter head. It gives a bright, open response. The bottom snare-side head is much thinner and is a different head entirely.
02Ambassador or Emperor?
Ambassador is the lighter, more open one — more sustain, less dent resistance. Emperor is heavier, with shorter decay, and survives hard hitting better.
03Will this fit a 14-inch floor tom?
Yes. Heads are sized by shell diameter, so a 14-inch floor tom takes a 14-inch head. Measure across the top of the shell with the hoop removed.
04Clear or coated?
Clear is brighter with more attack. Coated is warmer and drier, and it's the only choice if you play with brushes.
