What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

7* tip opening

A moderate opening for baritone. Open enough to push volume, still controllable without extreme embouchure strength.

Detail 02

Metal construction

Thinner walls than hard rubber, so the piece feels smaller in the mouth and adds brightness to the core.

Detail 03

Baritone saxophone sizing

Fits bari necks only. Bari mouthpieces are considerably larger than tenor and will not interchange.

Detail 04

Large rounded chamber

Air expands behind the tip rather than hitting a ledge, giving a fuller, rounder tone than baffled designs.

Detail 05

Otto Link facing curve

A medium-length curve that balances response in the low register with control up top.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Ligature and cap are not included; buy one cut for metal bari pieces
  2. 02Expect to try a couple of reed strengths, often 2 to 3, before settling
  3. 03Your neck cork may need refitting for a metal piece

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01What does the 7* mean?

It is the tip opening, the gap between reed tip and mouthpiece tip. 7* is a middle-of-the-road bari opening, wider than a 6 and narrower than an 8.

02Does a ligature come with it?

No. Metal bari mouthpieces need a ligature sized specifically for them; a hard rubber bari ligature will be too large.

03Is this bright or dark?

Middle ground. The metal body adds brightness, but the large rounded chamber keeps it fuller and rounder than a high-baffle mouthpiece.

04Will this fit my baritone neck?

It is cut for standard bari cork. Coming off a hard rubber piece, the cork may be too thick and need sanding by a tech.
