LudwigClassic Maple Snare Drum - 14 x 6.5 in. Hybrid Black Sparkle

Rooted in Ludwig’s long-standing tradition of American drum building, the Ludwig Classic Maple snare drum delivers the familiar feel and musical response drummers have trusted for decades. Built in the United States, this snare is offered in multiple depths—from 14" x 5" through 14" x 10"—and features a 7-ply maple shell formed to a 6 mm thickness with precise 45-degree bearing edges. This construction allows the drum to speak quickly, tune easily and maintain clear articulation across a wide dynamic range. Available in a variety of finishes, the Classic Maple snare balances visual character with the consistency and control players rely on for live performance and studio work. Seven-Ply Maple Shell With Clear Attack and Broad Tuning Range Each Classic Maple snare is built from a 7-ply all-maple shell, valued for its balanced blend of warmth, clarity and control. The 6 mm shell construction supports articulate stick definition, while clean 45-degree bearing edges allow the head to seat evenly and vibrate freely. From soft ghost notes to full accents and rimshots, this shell design delivers consistent response and musical sustain across a wide range of tunings, making it easy to tailor the drum’s feel and voice to different playing styles. Durable Wrap Finishes With Trusted Ludwig Hardware The Classic Maple snare is offered in a wide range of wrap finishes, allowing players to choose a look that fits their kit and personal style while retaining the familiar feel of Ludwig construction. These finishes are designed to hold up through rehearsals, sessions and live performance without compromising tone or durability. Triple-flange hoops and steel hardware support stable tuning and open response, while a patented Ludwig throw-off and steel carbon snare wires provide smooth engagement and a consistent, dependable snare feel from gig to gig.
