  • Singer-songwriters running straight into a PA
  • Gigging players wanting mic character without feedback chaos

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

LR Baggs Anthem SL Acoustic Microphone/Preamp System construction detail

Detail 01

Tru-Mic plus undersaddle pickup

The pickup carries attack and definition, the mic adds air and body. Blended, they sound closer to a miked guitar.

Detail 02

Mic range 250Hz–20kHz

The mic is deliberately rolled off below 250Hz, so it adds sparkle and room without boomy low-end feedback.

Detail 03

Single 9V, 170 hours

Roughly a year of weekly three-hour gigs. Still carry a spare — output dies when it dies.

Detail 04

Pickup .092 inch wide, .038 inch thick

Needs a saddle slot that matches. Too wide or too shallow a slot and it will not seat evenly.

Detail 05

Tru-Mic at 0.5 oz

Light enough to mount inside without damping the top or shifting the guitar's acoustic voice.

Detail 06

Onboard preamp

Buffered output drives long cable runs and DI boxes cleanly. No outboard preamp needed.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Installation means an endpin jack hole — plan on a tech, not a kitchen table
  2. 02Saddle may need reshaping so it sits flat on the sensor
  3. 03Battery, cable and DI are separate purchases

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Can I install this myself?

Only if you are comfortable drilling and reaming an endpin jack and dressing a saddle flat. Most players pay a tech.

02How long does the battery last?

About 170 hours on a single 9V. Unplug the cable when you stop playing, since the jack switch is what powers it down.

03What is the difference between this and a plain undersaddle pickup?

The internal Tru-Mic adds the air and body a piezo misses. You blend the two instead of living with piezo quack alone.

04Will the mic feed back?

It is filtered below 250Hz to limit it, but any internal mic has a ceiling. Very loud stages will still push it.
