It will physically connect, but DMX cable is a different impedance than mic cable. It's meant for lighting data, not audio signal.
02Does it work in the other direction, 3-pin out to 5-pin in?
No. The connector genders are fixed: 5-pin male on one end, 3-pin female on the other. You need the opposite adapter for that.
03Will I lose any DMX channels?
No. DMX-512 data runs on pins 1 through 3. The two extra pins on the 5-pin end are unused in standard rigs.
04Do I still need a DMX terminator?
Yes. This adapter doesn't terminate anything. Put a 120-ohm terminator on the last fixture in the chain.
