Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
The Vintage Sunburst J-185 Century is a 12-fret jumbo built for an open, responsive acoustic voice. Moving the neck joint to the 12th fret positions the bridge farther into the lower bout, contributing greater warmth, low-end presence and immediacy. A Sitka spruce top over a mahogany body works with scalloped X-bracing to retain clarity as your attack changes. Its SlimTaper mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and 19-fret layout support a relaxed playing feel, framed by a satin nitro finish and vintage-style hardware.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Fingerstyle work where a lighter touch and responsive top are useful.
- Acoustic strumming that moves between softer passages and stronger attack.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Players who require more than the instrument’s 19 frets.
