The fingerboard radius changes from one end of the neck to the other.

Independent shopping perspective
EVH’s Wolfgang Special QM pairs a basswood solid body and arched quilt maple top with a graphite-reinforced, bolt-on baked maple neck. The rolled neck edges, satin back finish, 12–16-inch compound radius, and 22 jumbo frets are arranged for active riff and lead work. Two body-mounted Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbuckers handle the amplified voice, while the locking Floyd Rose system and D-Tuna support dramatic pitch changes and rapid movement between standard tuning and Drop D.
