Strong match

Who this is for

  • Players who ride volume mid-solo and want smoother sweep
  • Repairing a scratchy or stiff volume pot on a humbucker guitar
  • Builders wiring a guitar with humbuckers or other high-output pickups

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Single-coil guitars that expect 250K pots — highs get brighter than intended
  • Anyone without a soldering iron and basic wiring skills
  • Players who never touch the volume knob while playing

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

500K resistance

Bleeds less treble to ground than a 250K pot, so humbuckers stay brighter and more open.

Detail 02

Low friction

The shaft turns with less drag, so you can move the knob in small amounts with one finger while playing.

Detail 03

Potentiometer, not a full harness

It replaces one control. The rest of the wiring, capacitor and switch stay as they are.

Detail 04

Sold as a single unit

A guitar with separate volume and tone controls needs more than one if you're changing both.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01No knob included — reuse yours, and check it fits the shaft type
  2. 02Confirm shaft length works with your body and top thickness before ordering
  3. 03Requires desoldering the old pot and resoldering the ground and signal leads

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Will this work on a Strat?

Electrically yes, but Strat single-coils are usually wired with 250K pots. A 500K will make the guitar noticeably brighter. That's a tone choice, not a fault.

02Do I need a soldering iron?

Yes. The pot has to be wired into the existing circuit, including a ground connection to the back of the pot casing. There is no solderless option.

03Does it come with a knob?

No. It's the potentiometer only. Your existing knob will transfer if the shaft type matches.

04What does low friction actually change?

How the knob feels. It takes less force to turn, which makes volume swells and quick cleanups easier to do with your picking hand while still playing.
