Independent shopping perspective
EVH’s 5150 Iconic 80W head puts clean/overdrive and lead/burn channel paths, tube power and direct-output routing in one amplifier. The Green channel can move from clean settings into overdrive, while the Red channel adds burn and a noise gate for fast, articulated riff work. Separate gain and volume controls help balance channel changes. For a solo lift, Channel 2’s footswitchable boost adds 10 dB; the speaker-emulated D.I. with power-amp mute also supports direct recording or PA use.
