A finished maple board is sealed and will not take conditioner. Just wipe it clean and dry. Save these for bare rosewood or ebony.
02how often should I condition a fretboard?
Once or twice a year for most players, or whenever the wood looks dry and grey. Over-conditioning does more harm than skipping it.
03do I need to take the strings off?
It works much better with them off. Otherwise you only reach the edges of the board.
04will this clean the board too?
It is a conditioner. Lift off heavy grime and fret grunge first, then condition the bare wood.
