Strong match

Who this is for

  • Players who bend a lot but detune or drop the low E
  • Lead players wanting easy bends without a loose bottom
  • Anyone stepping down from 10s who still wants low-string tension

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Players wanting uniform tension across all six strings
  • Bass or acoustic guitars; this is an electric set only
  • Heavy strummers who prefer a thicker plain-string feel

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

9-46 gauge

A hybrid set. Light 9s on top for bends, but a 46 low E that stays firm instead of flapping.

Detail 02

Hybrid tension spread

Top and bottom pull differently, so a floating tremolo may need spring adjustment after switching.

Detail 03

Nickel-plated wound strings

Standard feel under the fingers and easier on frets than stainless, at the cost of some corrosion resistance.

Detail 04

$12.99 per set

Priced at the regular replacement tier. Cheap enough to change often rather than nurse a dying set.

Detail 05

Signature set

The gauge spread is the substance here, not a coating or unusual construction. It plays like a standard set.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Fits standard six-string electric only, not acoustic, bass, or nylon
  2. 02A floating tremolo will need re-balancing if you are changing gauge
  3. 03One set. No picks, winder, or string cutters included

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01What does 9-46 mean?

The high E is .009 and the low E is .046. Standard 9s usually end at .042, so this set gives you a thicker, tighter bottom string.

02Will these work for drop tuning?

The .046 low E holds up better in drop D than a standard 9-42 set. For lower than drop D you will want a heavier bottom still.

03Do I need a setup if I'm coming from 10s?

Check relief and intonation. The top strings pull less than 10s while the low E is close, so the neck may want a small truss rod adjustment.

04Are these coated?

No. These are uncoated strings, so expect a normal break-in and normal lifespan. Wipe them down after playing to slow corrosion.
