The Korena take

Silver-plated ligature for alto sax mouthpieces. For alto players who want a firmer, more consistent reed hold than a stock ligature gives.

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

D'Addario Woodwinds H-Ligature for Alto Saxophone Silver construction detail

Detail 01

H-style design

Contacts the reed at fewer points than a wraparound band, letting more of the reed vibrate freely.

Detail 02

Silver finish

Metal ligature bodies grip firmly and hold their shape better than fabric or leather over years of use.

Detail 03

Alto saxophone sizing

Built around alto mouthpiece diameter. Fit is tight by design, so it will not slide onto a tenor piece.

Detail 04

Two-screw tightening

Even pressure across the reed. Snug it evenly rather than cranking one screw down hard.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Mouthpiece included: no. This is the ligature only.
  2. 02Ligature cap not included — keep your existing one
  3. 03Check your mouthpiece is standard alto size; oversized blanks may not seat

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Does this fit a hard rubber mouthpiece?

It is sized for standard alto saxophone mouthpieces. Standard hard rubber alto pieces are the normal fit; unusually thick or oversized blanks may not seat properly.

02Will this work on my tenor sax?

No. This is the alto version. A tenor mouthpiece is larger in diameter and the ligature will not close around it.

03Does it come with a cap?

No, the ligature is sold on its own. Keep the cap that came with your mouthpiece.

04How tight should I make it?

Just enough to stop the reed moving. Tighten both screws evenly and stop there — overtightening chokes the reed's vibration and can mark it.
